At BroadStaff we have an outstanding opportunity for a Rock Drill Foreman/Locator in the Outside Plant/Utility space.  To be successful in this role, you will need to be the kind of person who likes working on the projects in the field 100% of time overseeing the crews, assisting Drill Operator in locating drill head with a  full knowledge of underground fiber install operations. Do you know Rock Drilling, always  ensure your sites are safe, are an expert heavy equipment operator in the telecom space and carry a CDL Class A License?  Then apply today!  This is full time, direct hire opportunity that can be based in multiple locations.  The position requires a " road warrior" mentality (typically  3 weeks out and 1 weekend home)

Job Responsibilities:
  • Ensure locates are correct
  • Safely and efficiently operates locator for dirt and rock drill bore machines
  • Ensure safe operation of any support equipment (DitchWiich JT30 and/or AT30)
  • Constantly communicate with crew members
  • Ensure potholes are dug prior to crossing utilities
  • Maintains accuracy in all reporting functions
  • Leads construction crew of 2-3 members
  • Assist with JSA’ s and constantly being on the look out for changing conditions
  • Assist Operators & Laborers with hand digging, pot holing, and operating heavy equipment when needed
  • May be required to work day, evening or night hours, overtime, weekends and out of town assignments as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in the utilities field
  • 5+ years of experience operating locator systems for  drill bore machines and any other heavy equipment needed in the underground utility field, such as; backhoes, trenches, shovels, ladders, etc.
  • Experience with 30, 000 plus pound directional drill
  • Experience with either air hammers or mechanical mud motors, bore chemicals and mud mixtures
  • Working knowledge of grades/slopes
  • Class A CDL is required
  • A strong belief in Being Safe 100% of the time is the expectation
  • Strong team player with the ability to adapt to diverse team members
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced work environment
  • Ability to operate all types of heavy equipment
  • Ability to review and understand construction drawings and specifications
  • Attention to detail is a must
